2) FLOATING STORAGE UNIT (FSU)

LNG Floating Storage Unit (FSU) is a type of vessel or offshore structure that is capable of storing LNG. The purpose of this kind of vessel is to store and supply LNG in a safe manner which will be later used for re-gassification facilities. It also serves a temporal floating terminal for redistribution of LNG thru the small capacity LNG carriers and LNG bunkering vessels. FSU is capable of safe mooring on nearby land and also has the capability for maneuvering either by self propulsion or by towing with another vessels. This is to ensure that it can be moved to safer location should extreme weather conditions occurs. On other areas where land construction is not possible, FSU is needed. FSU is advantageous economically for it required less cost compared to building land based storage facilities. Common conversions of other existing vessels to FSU makes it also more economical and more profitable.
